Dynastic hot dog eating champion Joey Chestnut will not compete in this year’s Nathan’s hot dog eating contest after signing a deal with a plant-based food company. Chestnut has won the “Mustard Yellow Belt” 16 times and holds the world record for eating 76 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes. The Major League Eating organization, which oversees the contest, expressed disappointment over Chestnut’s decision to represent a rival brand and stated that he must renounce deals with competing brands in order to compete in the future. This is not the first time there have been disputes between Nathan’s and its winners.
